Introduction to Size Classification of Sleeves

Common sleeve size diagrams require users to pay attention to three key dimensions: S (6-corner/12 corner hole), L (length), and Drive Hole (four corner hole). Because these three dimensions determine the environment in which this sleeve tool can be used.
The four corner hole mainly corresponds to the four corner heads of different torque tools. If you buy a 1/2 “ratchet wrench (gourd handle, also known as a caliper), then the socket you buy should also be 1/2”. L “refers to the length of the sleeve, which mainly depends on your needs when using this tool. Sometimes, some nuts may be locked in relatively deep places, and a long sleeve is needed. S “is the size of the sleeve corresponding to the nut. For example, if you want to loosen a 5mm nut, you need to buy a 5mm sleeve.
Four corner hole size:
Four corner holes, also known as D river holes (square holes), have different specifications due to different usage environments and torque requirements. There are currently five main specifications: 1/4 “(6.3mm), 3/8” (9.5mm), 1/2 “(12.7mm), 3/4” (19.0mm), and 1 “(25.4mm).
Usually, when you go to a hardware tool store, you can find that the ratchet wrench or other disassembly tools have the same size of four corners or holes. The larger the square hole, the stronger the torque it can withstand, while the smaller the sleeve, the more suitable it is for narrow spaces that do not require high torque. Generally speaking, 1/2 “DR. is a common specification and is most commonly seen in general repair shops.
SAE (INCH.) & MM (Metric):
At present, the popular sleeve sizes on the market are divided into inch (feet) and metric (millimeters). The common sizes of 6-angle or 12 angle sleeves are expressed in these two units, with a common range of 5.5-24mm. Traditionally, inch is commonly used in American speaking countries, while metric is commonly used in Eurasian countries. (Converted to: 1 inch=25.4mm)
The Eurasian system is mainly used domestically, and the sleeves purchased in general hardware stores are mostly of EU specifications. But if it is an American car, especially an old car, it will require more inch series hand tools.
The length of the sleeve can be roughly divided into long sleeve, medium sleeve, and short sleeve. Users can choose the most suitable length according to their own work environment. In addition, the middle sleeve is mainly designed for 3/8 “DR sleeves.
