A wrench is a commonly used tool in daily life, ranging from large machinery and vehicles to small household appliances, and its presence is not difficult to see in repairs. A wrench is a manual tool that uses the principle of leverage to turn bolts, screws, nuts, and other threaded fasteners. Most wrenches are made of structural steel made of carbon or alloy materials, and have openings or holes for tightening bolts and nuts at one or both ends of the handle. When using, apply force in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction on the handle according to the situation to tighten or loosen the bolts and nuts. There are also many types of wrenches, and today we will introduce a few commonly used wrenches.
1、 Dumb wrench
Dumb wrench, also known as dead wrench, is divided into double headed dumb wrench and single headed dumb wrench. It refers to a fixed size opening at one or both ends of the handle. Generally, a wrench is made of high-quality medium carbon steel or high-quality alloy steel forged as a whole, which is easy to operate, structurally stable, and has strong impact resistance. It is suitable for use in small spaces with low force.
2、 Plum wrench
A plum blossom wrench refers to a wrench with flower rings on both ends, and the radii of the flower garlands on both ends are different. When holding the handle horizontally, it will be found that the flower garlands on both ends are staggered. The radius of the flower wreath of the plum blossom wrench is divided into different specifications and sizes. When using it, it is necessary to choose the one that matches the size of the bolt and nut. It is best to operate it with both hands at the same time to ensure that the plum blossom wrench is fully matched with the bolt and prevent slipping.
3、 Dual purpose wrench
A dual-purpose wrench combines the needs of a solid wrench and a plum blossom wrench. The handle has a wreath shaped design on one end and a fixed size solid wrench on the other. For users who operate simple mechanical equipment, it can be said to kill two birds with one stone. Both sides can be used for bolt installation and removal.
4、 Active wrench
A live wrench refers to a tool that can adjust the opening width within a certain range. The four fingers grip the handle tightly, and the thumb adjusts the size of the wrench opening by sliding the roller. It is a relatively flexible tool for tightening and loosening fasteners, and can adapt to different specifications of bolts and nuts. When pulling the large nut, a large torque and space are often required. The hand needs to be held tightly at the end of the handle, but steel products should not be used to extend the handle and increase the torque.
5、 Hook wrench
Hook shaped wrench, also known as crescent shaped wrench, commonly known as hook plate, is used to turn flat nuts with limited thickness, and is specifically designed for disassembling and assembling round nuts on vehicles and machinery. Adjustable head, suitable for multiple round nuts to be used simultaneously, with a wide range of applications.
6、 Socket wrench
A socket wrench refers to a wrench with a hexagonal or twelve pointed hole on the handle. Common types include two headed, three headed, and multiple adjustable sockets on the same handle. Suitable for bolts and nuts with very narrow turning space or deep indentations that cannot be directly used with a dull wrench or a Phillips wrench. The main advantage is that with a movable sleeve, the force arm can be flexibly selected according to needs.
7、 Hexagonal wrench
An Allen wrench is an L-shaped hexagonal bar wrench designed specifically for turning hex screws. It can also move in small spaces and has high torque, good toughness, and durability. It is suitable for various working conditions in multiple specifications and is commonly used for repairing motorcycles, electric vehicles, machinery, digital products, and furniture.
8、 Torque wrench
Compared with the above wrenches, torque wrenches are more user-friendly. When tightening bolts and nuts, they can automatically adjust the applied torque. When the torque reaches the set value, a sound will be emitted to remind the operator that it has been tightened and no more force is needed, avoiding damaging the threads due to excessive operating force.
9、 Strike wrench
The percussion wrench is a large tool mainly used in industries such as petroleum extraction, petrochemicals, and ores. The handheld end is the tapping end, and the front end is the working end. Widely applicable, sturdy and durable.
10、 Multi functional quick wrench
Multi functional quick wrenches are also available in single head and double head sizes, with different head widths and specifications to meet various needs. There is a tight tooth pattern design added at the tightening point of the wrench, making it easy to twist whether circular, square, or polygonal without slipping.
